EYEBROW Postcare Guidelines

Here are strict postcare guidelines recommended for all clients. Your precare sets your body up for the best condition during the session, and postcare sets your body for optimal healing. Follow all instructions diligently to ensure the best healed retention.

Cleansing

Immediately after the procedure, it is crucial to keep the treatment area clean. The only time the eyebrow area should get wet is during the cleansing regimen.

Cleansing Tools: Your artist will provide a foam cleanser and ointment after your appointment.

How

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly.

  2. Apply 1 pump of foam cleanser to your fingertips and gently apply it to the brow area in 3 light strokes.

  3. Rinse with cool to room temperature water, just enough to rinse off the foam cleanser.

  4. Pat dry with tissue ONLY.

  5. Use 1 rice grain size of ointment per eyebrow, slowly tap, and thin it out across the eyebrow.

When:

  • Day 1: Every hour following the procedure for 4 hours.

  • Day 2-14: Twice daily until fully shed (some individuals may heal faster; if so, stop cleansing once brows have shed. Do not continue past 14 days).

**Save cleanser and ointment for touchup

Duration

Clients will heal at different rates. Some faster, some slower. Cleansing should stop when your brows stop shedding. Do not continue past the shedding phase and past 10 days. Your commitment to these postcare instructions is vital for successful healing and optimal results.

FIRST 48 Hours

AVOID || DO NOT

  • Caffeine, tea, soda, energy drinks, etc

  • Blood thinners, aspirin, ibuprofen, smoking, etc.

ENTIRE DURATION OF HEALING [TyPICALLY 10-14 DAYS]

  • Avoid direct sunlight, tanning, sun bathing, etc. (wear a hat)

  • Avoid moisture to the treated area (keep the area dry until fully shed and healed, except during cleansing)

  • Avoid excessive moisture, including but not limited to: sweating, working out, saunas, steam rooms, swim pools, etc. (Unless otherwise stated)

  • Avoid sleeping on your side or stomach until the treatment area is fully healed.

  • Avoid picking, scratching, or rubbing the treatment area.

  • Avoid hot steamy showers, try to keep area dry while showering.

  • Avoid applying makeup to the tattooed area until the entire area has fully shed.

  • Do NOT Use of Vaseline, Neosporin, or any other petroleum-based products.

  • Do NOT Bleaching, tinting, or dyeing the tattooed area.

  • Do NOT Application of any anti-acne products (e.g., benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, proactiv, etc.) or lightening creams (skin bleaching creams) such as hydroquinone to the treated areas.

  • Avoid Application of any anti-aging or facial products containing Alpha Hydrozles (AHAs), Retin-A, Lactic, or Glycolic Acids to the treated areas.

  • HIGHLY RECOMMENDED NO exercising until the brows are fully healed.

HEALING PROCESS BREAKDOWN

This is a standard breakdown of the healing process that you may experience. Each individuals healing process is different and results may vary.

Day 1:

  • Treated area is approximately 20-25% darker than expected healed results.

  • Slight swelling and redness expected.

Day 2-4:

  • Swelling and redness should subside.

  • Treated area appears darker and bigger due to the scabbing process starting on swollen skin from day 1.

Day 5-7:

  • Shedding and itching begin.

  • Avoid picking at scabs, itching, or excessive expressions in the treated area to prevent loss of pigmentation.

Day 7-14

  • Shedding should be complete.

  • Pigment may initially appear light or almost non-existent as a new layer of shiny skin forms over the treated area. Once fully healed, the pigment should resurface and darken.

Weeks 2-6:

  • Pigment will gradually darken day by day.

  • True color should resurface by week 4 after shedding the new skin layer.

Touch-up procedure information

A touch-up is typically performed within 6-12 weeks post the initial session. The purpose of the touch-up is to perfect and seal in pigmentation, ensure retention of shape, and fill in any patchy areas that may not have resurfaced properly due to mishaps during the healing process, such as poor pre and post-care, accidental scratching of scabs, or premature flaking of scabs.

Once the treated area is completely healed, any necessary changes or additions can be addressed at your follow-up appointment. It takes about 4 weeks for the brow area's skin cells to fully regenerate and settle in, and your skin's integrity is the top priority during the treatment.

Not all clients will require a touch-up. To determine if a touch-up is necessary, it is recommended to contact your artist, who will guide you in the next steps based on your individual healing process.

After Healing Instructions

To extend the lifespan of your brows, strictly follow the instructions below:

AVOID

  • Retin-A, moisturizers with glycolic acids, exfoliants, microdermabrasion, chemical face peels, laser treatments, and anti-aging products on all areas of semi-permanent makeup tattoo. These can cause premature discoloration, fading, and lightening of pigments.

  • Lasers around the treatment area. If having laser procedures after healing, inform the technician as lasers may affect the tattooed area.

  • Tanning beds.

ALWAYS

  • Apply sunblock when under direct sunlight. Sun exposure can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment. After complete healing, apply sunscreen daily on the treated area and wear a hat for additional protection.

  • Rinse and dry the area thoroughly when in contact with chlorine.

NOTE

  • No implied or written guarantees for results if pre-care or post-care is not followed.

  • Pigments fade over time based on metabolism, skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, medication intake, facial surgery, and smoking.

  • As tattoos age, warmth escapes the pigment. Periodic touch-ups ensure long-lasting and true color results.
